Counter Strike

| | Comments (0)

I'm always late to the party...really late sometimes. I never got into Counter Strike or the original Half-Life. Last night I decided to fire up Counter Strike CS since it came with Half-Life2. Now I understand the addiction. I'll never got those 3 hours back.

Of course, I still haven't installed STALKER yet, and I still have programming to do before I start playing it.

It's been so long since STALKER was anounced, and postponed, and postponed, and postponed that I had never noticed that it actually came out. I snagged a copy at the evil Best Buy while I was out and about last night, along with a copy of Quicken 2007 since my 2004 CrippleWare won't do online crap after the 30th of the month. Sigh.

I was also checking one some of the new line of 17" Core2 laptops on the market. I hate HP craptops. I would never buy one again. The Toshiba Satellite 17"s look nice. My only beef is that the 105 Series has this insane narrow right shit key because they squeeze in a 10-key pad. Who the hell needs that. Totally worthless to me with a narrow shift key. Sames goes for keywords whom move the backslash key, or narrow the backspace key. Don't fuck with keyboard layouts please. It pisses off programmers.

Sam's Club of all people has a great deal on a Core2 17" Toshiba with 2GB DDR2 and a 120GB drive with Vista Premium for like $1200. That's a great deal with the exception of a close model of that on NewEgg.

I will says this for the overpriced 17" MacBook Pro: The keyword is full size. No narrowed key nonsense. To bad is only has one mouse button. :-P

PS3 + Killzone = Holy Shit!

|

I just saw the [supposedly] realtime PS3 Killzone clip on the E3 coverage on G4TV. If it is indeed realtime gameplay, then holy shit. PC gaming is dead and I'm switching to PS3. It was like watching the best rendered CGI cutscenes in a game, but realtime.

It definately takes FPS to a new level.

Revenge Of The Sith

I'm kind of pissed that the Revenge Of The Sith game isn't getting a PC version. LucasArts is sadly lacking when it comes to a Jedi-based First Person Shooter.

Jedi Academy is long in the tooth compared to HL2 and DOOM3. Battlefront and Battlefront 2... bah. I hate Real Time Strategy games. Republic Commando...not Jedi related. I wouldn't touch Galaxies with a ten foot pole.

I sure their FPS space doesn't stay empty for too long.

Splinter Cell 3

SC3 Banner

I must say, after all the crap with the last version of Splinter Cell; the crappy patches, the crashes, the corrupt profile issues; this new version is actually great.

On top of that, it's cheap too. $30-$40. That's great compared to friggin Half-Life2 and Doom3 that were above $50 when they were released.

I had to turn down all the featuresto get 1920x1200 playable. Time for an X800 XT PE or X850 XT PE. I think Margo would kill me. :-)

We Don't Go To Ravenholm

Man, the Ravenholm level in Half-Life2 is by far one of the scariest game levels I've ever played, even the second time around it still gives me the heeby jeebies.
