I did mention trained shaved monkeys were building these pages right?

But seriously, if you use code from thise site, please be a good netizen and give credit where credit is due.

It's the help, stupid!

Navigation Enhancements

Extra navigational aids have been added to this site to make it easier to use.

Navigational Link Tags

Extra links tags have been added to each page to better describe the relationship between pages and make navigation quicker in certain browsers. Most pages include "Top", "First", "Previous", "Next", and "Last" relational links where possible. The should be viewable in text based browsers like Lynx. Graphical browsers like iCab and Mozilla have a special toolbar that will read these links and present the appropriate buttons. Mozilla users can enable this toolbar by selecting View menu, Show/Hide, Site Navigation Bar, Show Only As Needed.

All pages also have "Help", "Copyright" and "Authors" links defined as well as the bookmarks "Return to Top" and "Jump to Content" which will always take you to the top of the current page and to the start of each page's main content respectively. Individual entry archive pages also have "Jump to Comments" and "Jump to Trackbacks" defined, which will take to you the comments and trackback sections respectively.

Keyboard Shortcuts (Access Keys)

This website makes use of keyboard shortcuts or "access keys" to make moving from item to item of section to section quicker for those who use the keyboard more than the mouse. On windows, these can be used by pressing ALT + the access key. On Macs you can use them by pressing Control + the access key.

The following access keys have been defined for use on every page of this site:

Access Key 1
Home Page
Access Key 5
Jump to Content/Skip Navigation
Access Key 6
Access Key 9
Help and Accessibility Statement (this page)
Access Key V
Validate Current Page

Access keys are also defined for each element in the forms used on this website. The access key for each form element will be underlined within the name or label for that element. For example, the access key for the field labeled Name would be N. Pressing ALT+N on Windows or Control+N on a Macintosh should bring focus to or place the cursor in the Name field.

Layout and Design

This site's "look and feel" is applied using CSS. The default style sheet for this website uses relative font sizes so each user may increase or decrease the sizes of all the fonts used using the option in their browser. If your browser doesn't support cascading style sheets, this site should still be fully functional and easily readable.

If you would like to select a different cascading style sheet ("skin") of specify on of your own for this website check out the site preferences page.

Who's on first?

What's on second. Third base. I don't give a darn.

Who?

Just the fax ma'm:

  • my bills come addressed to Christopher H. Laco
  • 30ish years of age and counting
  • there's no place more exciting than Akron, Ohio
  • at work, they claim I am the Jack of all trades, Webmaster of none

What?

This sites construction is a huge departure from where I was a year ago. Not to mention that it probably is way more complicated than it has to be for 90% of it's content, but that is on purpose. :-)

Stop back later. I plan up creating a section under Projects that goes into great detail of how I built this site.

When?

While you are reading this, I am furiously not working on this site. That's what the trained shaved monkeys are for.

Where?

Good ole' Tallmadge, Ohio. Yes, that's right. The excitement capital of northeast Ohio. NOT.

Why?

This site is my attempt to get back into the website creation groove.

It's been far too long since I've had a personal website, and I need to scratch that itch. Plus, I have way to many opinions about various topics to keep under wraps any more. I've spent the last year or so maintaining existing websites @work and @home, and now it's time to get back on the wagon.

The other reasons I built this website:

  1. Because I can damnit, because I can!
  2. Force myself to get my new servers operational.
  3. Get converted away from Windblows web development
  4. Learn more FreeBSD stuffs
  5. The monkeys made me do it!@#$%
  6. Learn more Perl stuffs
  7. To much free time on my hands
  8. Learn more AxKit stuffs
  9. Taunt others from afar
  10. Learn more Apachestuffs
  11. And get converted away from Windblows webdevelopment!
